BABILONIA is an invitation to a shared, choral act: a semantic reinterpretation of memory, understood not as a nostalgic drive toward something absent but as awareness of something that continues to persist in different forms. “For Elisa Selli, the nature of memory is a lie. The artist confuses the viewer by appropriating reality, obliterating its sharpness and concreteness.” In Il radicante (The Rooting), visions of natural scenery appear reinvented and deformed by pictorial pigment. Nature becomes ephemeral and conceptual — to paraphrase Donna Haraway, neither mother nor curator, neither slave nor matrix — a topos which, locked in the boundary imposed on it, attempts to fluidly invade the surface of the canvas.from the critical text by Giulia Pontoriero
